What is inner peace?

     Honestly, I don't know what to respond to peace anymore? Everyone has their own point of view on peace and obviously it means different things to people, but to be honest do we even know what inner peace really is? How do we know what peace actually is? That's my opinion on inner peace. However, I believe that inner peace, is like a form of meditation almost like Yoga. I think that is how most people find inner peace within themselves.

Op-ed

     Do you read the newspaper everyday and read about what is going on politically in other countries? And if you do read the newspaper, do you believe it comes from a reliable source or that it is up to date with the current situation in that country? These are some questions we should ask our self’s when making informed opinions or when discussing topics about another country. In order to support our opinions we need to have the facts and evidence to state the point that is currently going on in that country.

     Like every country, has their own problem that they have to deal with. And I personally believe that we are not politically aware, and it doesn’t matter from which part of the world we are, we still judge and assume information that we consider to be true. Most of the people don’t take the necessary time to actually do their research and understand why that country is going through a harsh and difficult time. Most people just assume things when that’s not really the case for their situation.

     There are a lot of newspapers and T.V. stations that provide incorrect and unreliable material to which most people believe that that general information is true when it might not be. Distinctive television stations and newspaper print or air the evidence they only want the overall public to hear or suppose that that is the correct and only information available. The newspaper or T.V. stations pick side on who’s ever side they want to be on. However, there are some newspapers and television stations that do provide the accurate information that is up to date and they have their own reliable individuals to gather that information to later be distributed through articles in the newspaper or through the half hour show that comes out on television every night.

     The result from this produces mal-informed citizens, which has caused us to think based on the evidence that is not correct or up to date with the recent situation. Maybe this is why, we as the population of this world should not judge or assume things about the information that is given to us through the newspapers or through the television.

     Although, I still do believe that a maximum amount of the residents are not politically aware, no matter where they are, and it doesn’t matter where we hear our news from about our political problems or about the different countries, we still believe only have we want to believe.

A goal to accomplish

As of this moment, I don't have any short term goals, but there is a long term goal that I want to accomplish in the future with the right resources. I want to establish an organization that is fully committed in helping out unfortunate families in Mexico, who don't have the right income to provide enough food for their family, clothing, school supplies, repairs for their homes, etc. Seeing this personally, from an area that no one hears about, really wants me to do something now to help out the families in need. Seeing them suffer from hunger, which is the most common, really upsets and devastates me because I don't like seeing people suffer because of the lack of money, job opportunities, or because the government doesn't try to do anything for their own citizens. Instead of just seeing this happen, I plan to take action to help out the needed people and help them get out of that poverty that haunts many citizens in Mexico.  

The Disorganization in Yemen

The country of Yemen still cannot be stabilized. There are constant protests where many of the protestors are being seriously injured or some are even being reported as dead. These protest are the result from the president, Ali Abdullah Saleh. Saleh is the reason for the injured and for the people who are being killed in these riots. The protest are held for the fact that the anti-government protestors want president Saleh to step down, but he is refusing to give up his power, on the other hand he has decided that he will not participate for the coming 2013 elections. Although, this might bring peace to some residents, but others who know him well have stated that he is just playing an act.

Even though, Yemen is going through protest and other current situations, they still have to remember and deal with the al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula. The United States has been willing in order to help and provide military supplies to Yemen. To the U.S. the al-Qaeda is still a major threat to the country, but in providing this aid might help in stopping them from continuing there terrorist attacks.  

Video about homophobic bullying

The video of homophobic bullying was very moving. The video demonstrated what people should do in order to help out their friends or classmates, instead of letting the bullying go further. Supporting gay, lesbian, or bi won't affect you in a negative way. Many people don't help them because they are afraid of what other people will say about them. This is one reason way many gay, bi, or lesbians won't show their true personality because they are worried of what people might say or think about them.


I believe we should stop this homophobic bullying towards the gay, bi, or lesbians, and instead of harassing them, we should help or stand up for them when they need the support. They are human beings as well and they have feelings too. Their emotions can build up and this could lead them to having emotional stages like depression or even suicide.

Making a Difference for a Better Tomorrow

A growing number of deaths occur on a daily basis in the Middle Eastern countries. It has been a constant battle to overcome innocent deaths that occur from missiles, bombs, rockets, etc. Many of these citizens are tired from this constant battle that never seems to end. These countries need peace, coherence, and most importantly they need strong and courageous leaders that will lead them through the right path. 

Creativity for Peace has dedicated eight years in making future peace leaders. Each year they have summer camps in Santa Fe, NM that consist of three weeks of eased discussions, art making, social time, and field trips.  The organization only focuses on bringing 14-20 young females from Christian, Jewish, or Muslim faith.  They emphasize on young girls from ages 15-17 because they believe that young women have the forte to make a positive change in their native lands and to become the leaders that their country desperately needs.

While the girls were at camp, they had to participate in a 10-13 hour conversation, this allowed them to show respect towards the other females when they spoke, it also had allowed them to express their sentiments that they were holding back, and plus just overall get to understand the point of view from someone else they weren’t friends of.  Making art was another way of letting her creative side shine. The Israel and Palestine girls had an opportunity to express themselves through drawing, pottery, sculpture, photography, painting, and many more imaginative genres.  With the girls having to participate in this experience, many had allowed to express, shine, and feel more confident about themselves. Through these two main activities, many girls became more social and connected to their “enemies.”  

The form that they have communicated has reached out to many people. As, the knowledge about this organization has had an amount of viewers, and information about Creativity for Peace has increased through their newsletters, there calendar showing events that are to be expected, media releases, and press clips.
